Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 1, Episode 33 — Bayern Munich’s new deal with Kingsley Coman; Discussing the big news linking Bayern and Erling Haaland; Talking through the other upcoming contracts; and MORE!

After a shocking loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayern Munich will be looking to rebound against FC Köln. While much of the focus has been on how the Bavarians will perform this weekend, the club had a pretty big week in the board room and in the newspapers. Not only did Bayern Munich lock up Kingsley Coman through 2027, but we saw a lot of other information drop on other players. This is what we have on tap: Coman’s new deal, what it means for Bayern Munich, the formation, and the other wingers on the roster. Niklas Süle’s unfortunate status and why Nico Schlotterbeck is the preferred option should Süle bolt. Where things stand with Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller, and Robert Lewandowski. The interesting news that Bayern Munich has made contact with Mino Raiola over Erling Haaland. The shame of me not watching the Bayern Munich documentary as of yet and why I need to get on Cobra Kai and The Book of Boba Fett ASAP. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. FC Köln (Rückrunde)

When looking at Bundesliga managers, you would be hard-pressed to find anyone doing a better job than FC Köln’s Steffen Baumgart. Of course, Bayern Munich’s Julian Nagelsmann and SC Freiburg’s Christian Streich have also done pretty well, but with the Billy Goats sitting in sixth place, it is hard to think many other coaches could take that FC Köln roster and take it to these heights. With the Billy Goats an absolutely worthy opponent, Bayern Munich absolutely need to being its “A” game — and not the same lifeless effort it had against Gladbach. Here is what we have on tap: A look at where each team sits in the table. Why FC Köln is dangerous. The players we’ve seen identified as possible starters for Bayern Munich. What the Bavarians need to show even with a lineup that once again will not be operating at 100%. A prediction on the match. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works S4E20: We’re BACK! Discussing Bayern Munich’s Covid crisis, is Marcel Sabitzer a flop, FIFA’s The Best award, and more!

After a long (and unintended) hiatus, BPW is finally back with a new episode! While we were gone, Bayern Munich concluded the winter break and came back to a disastrous Covid-19 situation at the club. Up to TEN players tested positive before the game against Borussia Monchengladbach, which the team ended up losing 2-1 to start off the new year. Not great, all things considered — but it did give us a lot to talk about. In this episode, Ineednoname and Schnitzel discuss: The crazy situation with Covid-19 at the club, and how Julian Nagelsmann has coped. Were the players who tested positive (guys like Lucas Hernandez, Manuel Neuer, etc.) irresponsible by going abroad during vacation? Why was Bayern hit so hard by Covid? Another tangent on the state of the Bundesliga, stemming from frustration with how Gladbach play. Moving onto our main topic — has Marcel Sabitzer been a flop at Bayern Munich? Schnitzel gives an impassioned defense of the Austrian. INNN is unmoved. The problem(s) with Sabitzer so far. Schnitzel and INNN’s first argument of the year. Closing thoughts on the Sabitzer issue — what does he need to do to be accepted? A final quick look at the nominees for the FIFA The Best award — can Robert Lewandowski win it? As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think! Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show —Gladbach 2-1 Bayern Munich (Rückrunde)

Bayern Munich entered its big Bundesliga showdown with Borussia Mönchengladbach banged up, sick, and with not even enough depth to really fill out a lineup card. That said, the Bavarians still had enough talent to pull out three points, but...that did not happen. This is what we have on tap: A breakdown of the scoring. The lineup was truly the land of misfit toys. Bayern Munich started out great, but lost the momentum pretty quickly. Gladbach is truly Bayern Munich’s bogey team. There is no disputing this. Some thoughts on how the team played without so many key players. How to just shake this one off and move a long. There is plenty of football to be play in the second half of the season. Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 1, Episode 32 — What Bayern Munich’s Julian Nagelsmann should tell his team ahead of Gladbach; The latest on Kingsley Coman’s transfer saga; and MORE!

At this point, it feels like Bayern Munich is battling the Black Plague, Godzilla, and Thanos all at once, but such is 2022. Even with all of that, the Bavarians have an exciting match against Gladbach and a whole lot more to talk about. Here is what we have on tap for this episode: A quick look at why Bayern Munich vs. Gladbach is exciting. Why Julian Nagelsmann should walk into the locker room before the match, flip over a table and tell his team, “We’ll do it live!” The latest news on Kingsley Coman’s transfer saga and why he might be taking control of the situation. Why Bayern (hopefully) will not be making a run at Ousmane Dembele or Raphinha this summer. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — What’s left of Bayern Munich vs. Gladbach (Rückrunde)

We recorded this podcast working under the assumption that Bayern Munich will actually be facing off with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. Will it really happen? No one seems to know at this point, so we’re just going to proceed like normal (though absolutely nothing is normal in 2022 so far). Anyway, let’s take a quick look at what is on tap for this episode (and it would be shocking if most Bayern Munich fans are not heading straight for the tap to watch this one): A look at who is in and who is out for this match. Why Gladbach might be even more of a mess at this stage than Bayern Munich. Some excitement for seeing the Bayern youngsters. A prediction on the match. Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 1, Episode 31 — A look at the potential transfers into and out of Bayern Munich; What went wrong with Niko Kovac at AS Monaco; A Curb Your Enthusiasm lovefest; and MORE!

Bayern Munich is not on the pitch, but that does not mean there is not a lot to talk about. The big news has mostly revolved around the transfer market, but also with a former manager. Here is what we have on tap for the episode: Chuck and Tom reuniting...and it felt so good! A look at some of the biggest names that have been linked to Bayern Munich including Raphinha, Donny van de Beek, Denis Zakaria, Matthias Ginter, and more. A look at Niko Kovac’s unfortunate situation with AS Monaco. An appreciation of another fantastic season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Seriously, it was awesome from start to finish. Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 1, Episode 30 — A in depth look back at Bayern Munich’s Hinrunde; Transfer updates on Sergino Dest, Niklas Süle, Marc Roca, and Corentin Tolisso; plus MORE!

Bayern Munich might be on break, but there was plenty to talk about as the team closed out an extremely strong Hinrunde.  During the preseason, there were some doubters unsure if Julian Nagelsmann was the right man for the job in Bavaria, but whether you like him or not, you cannot argue with the bottom line results. Bayern Munich is a juggernaut.  This is what we have on tap for this episode:  A brief thanks to the BFW community for all of the ongoing support.  Lamenting that I couldn’t link up with Tom Adams for a two-man show.  An astonishing moment recognizing I was actually alone and had an empty house (so I drank beers and did a podcast).  A look at the coaching, defense, midfield, and attack during the Hinrunde.  Updates on Sergino Dest, Niklas Süle, Marc Roca, and Corentin Tolisso. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E19: Rating Nagelsmann’s first Hinrunde at Bayern Munich, the decline of the Bundesliga and BVB, winter transfers, and more!

The Hinrunde is over and Bayern Munich are officially the winter champions! Borussia Dortmund’s loss to Hertha Berlin means that Julian Nagelsmann is officially 9 points clear at the top of the table after his first half-season in charge of the club — one of the best starts to a new season since Pep Guardiola. Still, there’s plenty to address regarding the circumstances of this Hinrunde, which we took the liberty of doing.  In this episode, Ineednoname and Samrin discuss: What the hell happened to Borussia Dortmund this season?  The general decline in the quality of the Bundesliga this season.  Why losing great coaching talent has cost the league dearly.  We start talking about Nagelsmann 10 minutes in if you can’t listen to discussion about other teams.  What grade do we give Nagelsmann?  Samrin explains her reasoning first.  Can Bayern Munich compete with the top teams in the Champions League right now?  Should Nagelsmann have been given a 5-year contract?  How the coach is finding a better balance in recent games.  Similarties between Nagelsmann and Pep Guardiola, especially with regard to Thomas Muller.  Should Bayern make January transfers? (Includes a healthy dose of clowning on Cuisance.) INNN explains his reasoning for Nagelsmann’s rating.  Final comments: Being fair to Nagelsmann and why we will keep backing him despite criticism.  As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think! Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Bayern Munich 4-0 Wolfsburg (Hinrunde)

Another game, another three points for Bayern Munich as the Bavarians crushed Wolfsburg 4-0 in a dominant showing that might have been more about how hapless the Wolves were instead of how impressive the home team was. Thomas Müller’s early goal seemed to deflate Wolfsburg and things did not improve for Florian Kohfeldt’s side. Clearly, the Wolves have A LOT of work to do if they want to save their season. Here is what we have on tap: A recap of the match. Bayern Munich’s dominance and Wolfsburg toothless play made for no contest. The Nagelsmann Effect. Müller continues his excellent season. Thankfully Robert Lewandowski scored or he might have exploded (this is a running theme). As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Weekend Warm-up Podcast: A preview of Bayern Munich vs. Wolfsburg; A quick review of the UCL draw fiasco; Thoughts on Bayern’s rumored summer plans — including Erling Haaland; plus MORE!

Hey everybody! We are back for another Weekend Warm-up Podcast! This is the last edition before the team breaks, but rest assured, we’ll keep trudging forward to bring you our BFW brand of craziness even while Bayern Munich is maxing and relaxing. Because of the Uber-condensed week, I’ve combined the Wolfsburg preview show into the Weekend Warm-up Podcast. I believe this is what you might call, “More Chuck for your buck!” Anyway, here is what we have on tap: A quick look at Bayern Munich vs. Wolfsburg. A review of the Champions League draw fiasco. An examination into Bayern Munich’s Plans A, B, and C for the summer. Some thoughts about why Bayern Munich really needs to throwing timing to the wayside and go after Erling Haaland. Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — VfB Stuttgart 0-5 Bayern Munich (Hinrunde)

It was a workmanlike effort from Bayern Munich in defeating VfB Stuttgart 5-0. The Bavarians were, perhaps, a bit lucky at times but used a few strong individual performances to carry the day. Here is what we have on tap:  A recap of the match. A choppy start on a bad pitch and an aversion to using the central midfield in the build-up. The unfortunate injury to Kingsley Coman.  A magnificent performance from Niklas Süle, who just locked down anyone near him. Serge Gnabry’s revival and why it was important for the Germany international to have a strong showing.  The need for a strong performance on Friday against Wolfsburg.  As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: Special Edition — Champions League Round of 16 Draw Reaction (+ Stuttgart Preview)

After much huffing and puffing from UEFA, the Champions League Round of 16 draw is finally over, and Bayern Munich will definitely face RB Salzburg in the next round. This particular draw was rather eventful and had tonnes of controversy — at first, Bayern drew Atletico Madrid after all. Anyway, we just had to discuss all of that in an immediate reaction show. Please enjoy. Here are our talking points from the draw: INNN flounders trying to figure out what Salzburg are and how they might stack up. Schnitzel explains some of the important players at the Austrian club and how they’ve fared this season. A debate about Bayern target Karim Adeyemi — is he actually good, or just overhyped? Relief that we don’t actually have to face Atletico Madrid. Clowning UEFA for their botched draw. A review of the rest of the Round of 16 fixtures, including our picks for who will go through and why. INNN and Schnitzel disagree on their favorites for the Champions League. We move onto a preview for the game against Stuttgart, where INNN and Schnitzel disagree completely on Nagelsmann’s tactics. Seriously, if you want both sides of the argument, listen to this pod. Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Bayern Munich 2-1 Mainz

Now that just felt like a roller coaster ride, but one right after you’ve had a heavy lunch. Bayern Munich’s performance against Mainz was unimpressive, workmanlike and had a lot of heart-in-the-mouth moments, but the hosts edged out with a 2-1 victory thanks to some individual brilliance and a momentary turn of the tide in the second half. Mainz were fantastic, and made Bayern Munich fight hard to earn the win. The defense was particularly stellar, with Alexander Hack and Moussa Niakhate being the showrunners. Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala both scored a great goal each and ensured Bayern won at home. This win means that Bayern go 6 points clear of Dortmund at the top of the table, which is a comfortable cushion heading into the last couple of games of the hinrunde. Here are the major talking points of this podcast: Mainz’s sustained pressure and organized press Bayern Munich’s defensive blushes Super suspect defending Nonexistent midfield and underperforming wings Musiala’s role and what Nagelsmann needs to sort out Key players for each side Learn more about your ad choices. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs Mainz 05 (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich is playing its third game since last Saturday and after two HUGE victories, it would be easy to think that the Bavarians could be primed for a letdown.  With so many key players out and a huge dissing of its star player via the Ballon d’Or mess, the Bavarians might just be playing with a chip on their collective shoulder. Hopefully for Bayern Munich fans, that is the case. Here is what we have on tap:  A look at where each team is in the table. An acknowledgement that Germany U-21 star Jonathan Burkardt deserves Bayern Munch’s full attention.  A guess at Julian Nagelsmann’s line-up. A prediction on the match. Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 1, Episode 28 — A reflection on Bayern Munich’s dismantling of FC Barcelona; Thoughts on Joshua Kimmich; Rumors could affect Bayern Munich’s backline for the future; It’s Always Sunny talk; and MORE!

Bayern Munich had another big week.  After a somewhat controversial victory over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker, the Bavarians took on FC Barcelona in the Champions League — and subsequently sent the Catalans packing to the Europa League. While that was the big news of the week, we’ve got even more on tap: A look at the fallout from Bayern Munich’s big victory over FC Barcelona. Joshua Kimmich is struggling with the after-effects of his bout with COVID-19, so maybe people should lay off hammering him and hope he feels better soon. Some thoughts on the rumored pursuit of Nico Schlotterbeck and what that might mean for Bayern Munich’s existing core of defenders on the roster — and out on loan. A quick take on the new season of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia and what other comedies always make me laugh out loud one or more times per episode.   Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Bayern Munich 3-0 Barcelona (Champions League)

The group stage of the Champions League is over, and Bayern Munich have come out of it with a perfect record. 6/6 wins, 22 goals scored, only 3 conceded. Barcelona are, meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum — even with a new coach in Xavi, they find themselves haplessly knocked down into the inferior cup competition because they simply did not have the quality to stand toe to toe with the Bavarians. Here are our talking points from the game: A quick look at the lineups of both sides, including some points on the nuances of Xavi’s setup, including his use of Dembele, Araujo, and Sergino Dest. How the game went — basic recap including the game state and the feel of the goals. Why Barcelona didn’t manage to capitalize on their decent start. How Benjamin Pavard and the Bayern defense actually had a GOOD game for a change! A quick recap of the Bayern midfield, focusing on the performances of Jamal Musiala and Corentin Tolisso. Can this pivot be an option going forward? A complaint on the nature of Bayern’s attack at the moment — too much emphasis on individual brilliance, and far too little use of Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller. Closing thoughts on the game and the outro. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs Barcelona (Champions League)

The final matchday of the Champions League group stage is here, but Bayern Munich have nothing but pride to play for. That’s a good motivator for sure, but not compared to the stakes at play for FC Barcelona. The Catalans NEED a win because it would likely guarantee them qualification to the Round of 16 — an almost existential necessity given their financial issues. Of course they could also bank on Benfica losing in the other game, but their new coach seems like a more courageous type. Should be an interesting contest. Here are our talking points ahead of the game: The major problems at Barcelona, starting with their basic setup. How things have changed since Xavi took over from Ronald Koeman. What is it that Barcelona need at the moment? The answer will shock you! Should Bayern Munich rest players against Barca? Why Bayern’s performances in the Champions League are more important than ever. Is it finally time for Niklas Sule to start a game again? Should he be in for Upamecano or Benjamin Pavard? Jamal Musiala — who should he bench in the lineup and why is it Leroy Sane? How Barca’s new playstyle under Xavi could actually help Bayern break them down. Who is actually Barca’s most dangerous player right now? Hint: There’s actually a correct answer this time! Closing thoughts on the irony of Bayern triggering an identity crisis at Barca. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E18: Is Nagelsmann losing his touch, Lewandowski robbed of the Ballon d’Or, ghost games, and more!

Another week of Bayern Munich related action has passed us by, and it’s provided plenty of food for thought. Julian Nagelsmann is hitting the first speedbump of his tenure, as injuries and absentees pile up while the performances get increasingly more desperate. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski was once again robbed of a deserved Ballon d’Or award, and the Bundesliga isn’t allowed to have spectators again. Not great news, all things considered. In this episode, Ineednoname and Samrin discuss: Why Julian Nagelsmann is doing his best Carlo Ancelotti impression at the moment. The problems with Bayern’s tactical setup — starting from Alphonso Davies’ positioning and the consequences of the pseudo back-three. Thomas Muller’s strange role, and how it negatively affects the rest of the system. The problem with Leroy Sane right now — is it fatigue or another slump? Where are the young players? Why doesn’t Musiala play more often? Nagelsmann vs Flick — there’s something missing from this Bayern Munich team. Changing topics, talking about the impact of the return of ghost games on the Bundesliga. Why having closed stadiums just doesn’t make any sense (includes a rant by INNN). Closing the chapter on the Ballon d’Or — how Robert Lewandowski was robbed, and why Champions League performances matter more than ever to the club’s image. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich (Der Klassiker)

As another eventful year in football comes to a close, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund once again gear up for a game which is undoubtedly the biggest in German football. People may not like the name “Der Klassiker” because, technically, this game isn’t a classic derby — but you can’t deny that the fixture has a compelling enough history to be its own thing at this point. There’s never been a game between Bayern and BVB that is considered low-stakes, which is good for the fans because things never get boring. Here are our talking points ahead of the game: The situation with ghost games in Germany, and reports that the Klassiker may end up with limited capacity. Key absentees for both Bayern Munich and BVB, especially the situation with Joshua Kimmich. The return of Erling Haaland, and problems he could cause Bayern defense. Bayern’s issues with the midfield for this game, including reports that both Goretzka AND Kimmich could be out — who replaces them and what should we worry about? Why gegenpressing is Bayern’s kryptonite and how BVB could exploit that weakness. How Dortmund has fared this season, including the disappointing performances of Marco Rose. A final scoreline prediction for the game. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! What a week… Bayern Munich was trapped in the middle of roughly a billion stories, but none were bigger than the botched Ballon d’Or. That subject — and a few others — were the focus of this Weekend Warm-up Podcast. Here is what we have on tap: The reality that Robert Lewandowski was, indeed, better than Lionel Messi in 2020 and 2021 — and why the fanboys and bots just need to get help. The insane Pini Zahavi rumor mill that the super agent totally contrived in an attempt to put some early pressure on Bayern Munich to extend Robert Lewandowski. Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Bayern Munich 1-0 Arminia Bielefeld (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich never gave up in a hard fought game in the Bundesliga against Arminia Bielefeld. Leroy Sané showed once again that he is a special talent by scoring a spectacular goal, not quite Arjen Robben-esque, but a goal of the importance of Robben’s goals. Here is what we discussed on the podcast: Was this a good performance or was it not? Why did the Bundesliga schedule Bayern-Bielefeld as the match of the day? A look at some individual performances of the Bayern players A look around the Bundesliga and what else happened aside from Bayern-Bielefeld The absence of Joshua Kimmich Why I would like to see Bayern play with a back four rather than a hybrid three/four As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think! Bayern Munich had to fight through the blustery conditions and against a pesky Dynamo Kyiv side, but was able to walk out of Ukraine with a hard-fought 2-0 victory in the Champions League. It was not always easy. The cold, the sloppy conditions, and the patchwork line-up all had to be worked through and the Bavarians eventually were able to overcome all obstacles.  Here is what we have on tap:  The cold, snowy, and uncomfortable conditions. Robert Lewandowski’s fantastic bicycle kick goal.  The moment where Bayern Munich decided to take over.  The unsustainable nature of playing without so many key players.  The risk of wear and tear on players like Lewandowski and Thomas Müller. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E16: Unvaccinated players docked pay, Bayern’s relationship with Qatar, previewing Kyiv, and more!

Bayern Munich have survived another week of football, and things are very gloomy at the moment. The vaccine debate has started spiraling out of control, while the surprise loss to Augsburg on Friday has left a sour taste in fans’ mouths. Of course, this just gives us plenty of things to discuss on this edition of Bavarian Podcast Works. Here are our talking points for this episode: Bayern Munich have decided to dock unvaccinated players’ salary while they’re in quarantine. Is this the right decision, and what could be the fallout? The controversy surrounding Bayern’s association with Qatar, and the delaying of the member’s motion ahead of the next AGM. Cursed Bayern sponsorships. A preview for Bayern Munich vs Dynamo Kyiv (no preview show this week). The trouble with Marcel Sabitzer at the moment. A prediction for the game (that wasn’t by INNN). Bavarian Podcast Works: Postgame Show — Augsburg 2-1 Bayern Munich (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich return from the international break not with a bang, but with a whimper as the German champions slumped to a 2-1 defeat against FC Augsburg. No one saw this loss coming, but some worrying trends have begun to emerge under coach Julian Nagelsmann. What’s going wrong here? Here are our talking points from the game: Why Nagelsmann got his lineup completely wrong, starting with the three-man backline and its demerits. How playing Serge Gnabry at RWB causes a cascading effect on the rest of the system. Why Benjamin Pavard is simply not performing at the level required for Bayern Munich. How Niklas Sule might be the most important player in this team’s defense. Marcel Sabitzer’s midfield woes, and why he may be becoming Leroy Sane 2.0. The absolutely perplexing state of the back line. What is going wrong here? Is it the tactics, or the personnel, or something else? Criticizing Nagelsmann’s subs. The curious case of Jamal Musiala, and why we should be worried about his development. How Thomas Muller is being misused in the current system. Closing thoughts on what we want to see against Kyiv in midweek. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Augsburg vs Bayern Munich (Hinrunde)

The international break is finally over, and we are back in Bundesliga business. Bayern Munich face Augsburg this weekend, with many key players coming off of some stellar performances for their countries. Yes, Augsburg haven’t been great so far this season, but they do have the tools to frustrate Bayern, and their compact defensive block could be difficult to break down. However, with the Bayern boys in free scoring form, here’s hoping that they can bag more goals while keeping a clean sheet against their Bavarian rivals. A tall order, but one that is certainly doable, considering the form and the depth of this squad. Here are the key points covered in the podcast: A recap of the international break and how Bayern players fared The form of Bayern and Augsburg heading into the fixture Bayern Munich’s injury situation Key players and predicted lineups A final scoreline prediction As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think! Bavarian Podcast Works S4E15: Consequences for Bayern Munich’s unvaccinated players, can Germany win the World Cup, Coman at right-back, and more!

With Bayern Munich on break this week, you’d expect there to be very few topics for a Bayern fan podcast to discuss, but you’d be wrong! Turns out that this club is never truly free from controversy, and we here at BPW are obligated to discuss it. In this episode, Samrin and Ineednoname discuss: How Bayern Munich should deal with its quintet of unvaccinated players, including Joshua Kimmich. The consequences of allowing players in the squad to remain without the vaccine, especially in relation to mandatory isolation and the Champions League. If Hansi Flick should continue calling up unvaccinated players for Germany. Why Bayern having so many unvaccinated stars is terrible for the club's PR. The squad dynamics surrounding the vaccine decision, and why it’s not exactly easy for Nagelsmann or the Bayern bosses to convince Kimmich and co. to get vaccinated. Moving on to Germany — what are Flick’s chances at the World Cup? Areas of concern ahead of Qatar 2022. Is Jonas Hofmann the answer at right-back for Germany? Last topic — Kingsley Coman playing at right wingback for France, and what that could mean for Bayern. The Pavard vs Coman debate, started by you know who. Wrapping up the pod. Germany turned away a scrappy Armenia side for a 4-1 victory in the squad’s final World Cup qualifying match.  The Germans got ahead early and never looked back. While Armenia was tough and rugged, it was completely outclassed by Hansi Flick’s team, which was operating without several key pieces.  Here is what we have on tap:  A recap of the match and how Germany was able to pull away for the victory.  A look at how the “Flick Effect” has taken shape with Germany.  Germany’s newfound ability to just take care of business rather than letter inferior teams hang around.  What things might look like moving forward for the German. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Armenia vs Germany (World Cup Qualifiers)

Germany, after thrashing 10 man Liechtenstein, will be taking on Armenia in another chance for Hansi Flick to try new things ahead of the World Cup next time. Germany scored nine last time out but that will probably not be the case this time around. Here are our talking points ahead of the game: Additional absentees coming into this clash against Armenia Why Kevin Trapp should start in goal Why Matthias Ginter should start at the back Double pivot options including Gündogan/Arnold or Neuhaus/Arnold Potential line-up for Germany barring no injuries in the World Cup Germany’s options up-top including Karim Adeyemi High hopes for Lukas Nmecha up front As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Germany’s 9-0 win over Liechtenstein

Germany wasted no time in taking advantage of an early red card on Liechtenstein and cruised to a 9-0 victory despite have a makeshift line-up. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over SC Freiburg

Games against Freiburg are rarely easy; but Bayern Munich found a way to beat Christian Streich’s tough and gritty Freiburg side, 2 - 1. Leon Goretzka, excellent on the day, started the scoring; Robert Lewandowksi added a second late on which would matter very much as Freiburg would get a goal back late on via Janik Haberer. The following are our talking points: The changes both coaches made The importance of Leroy Sané and how Julian Nageslmann deploys him in the team Robert Lewandowski’s evolving role in this team SC Freiburg’s position in the table and why that is no fluke What SC Freiburg did really well in this game As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. SC Freiburg (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich will be back in action this weekend after trouncing Benfica in the UEFA Champions League. Facing them will be the Bundesliga’s only team yet to have faced defeat, SC Freiburg. Christian Streich would undoubtedly have a trick or two up his sleeve against Nagelsmann’s Bayern, and will be hoping that his well-drilled Freiburg, who sit comfortably at 3rd place in the Bundesliga table are able to cause the Bavarians some problems. This will be a tactical battle of the highest caliber and will be yet another important test in Nagelsmann’s first season. Here are the key points covered in the podcast: My love for Freiburg and why they are so good A big test for Nagelsmann Bayern The forms of both teams heading into the fixture Key players and predicted lineups A final scoreline prediction Learn more about your ad choices. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s 5-2 victory over Benfica in the Champions League

Bayern Munich picked up a 5-2 win over Benfica in the Champions League in match that easily could have been a four or five goal margin of victory in favor of the Bavarians.  Benfica came out swinging early, but punched itself and let Bayern Munich right back into the match. The second half was entirely dominated by the Bavarians as well. Here is what we have on tap:   Julian Nagelsmann’s line-up was wild. Granted, Lucas Hernandez and Niklas Süle were injury, but I did not foresee Tanguy Nianzou getting the call, three wingers (Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Leroy Sane), Thomas Müller on the bench, and no Jamal Musiala.  Bayern Munich’s strong first half that ended on a disappointing note with Benfica’s goal and Robert Lewandowski’s missed penalty. The strong start to the second half that paved the way to victory.   Bayern Munich’s swarming offensive attack. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E13: Bayern Munich’s bounce back weekend; The Bundesliga’s craziness; Favorite Halloween candy; and MORE!

Welcome to a spooky edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Flagship Show, which was recorded on Halloween.  Our staffers had a full schedule, so you were stuck with me to guide you through what happened this weekend with Bayern Munich and the Bundesliga overall. Here is what we had on tap for this episode:  A look at what was really important for fans to see from Bayern Munich when they squared off against Union Berlin.  The results in the Bundesliga this weekend and who at teams are surprising us.  Just a few guesses at what some Bayern Munich players might dress up as for Halloween. I had to check myself before I wrecked myself and only name a few so I did not have anyone hunting me down.  My list of Halloween candy favorites (Hint: There is a strong Hershey/Reese’s presence) and why I think Mallow Cups, Mounds, and Almond Joy are underrated.  As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think! Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Bayern Munich vs. Benfica (Champions League)

Bayern Munich traveled to Portugal, the scene of their UEFA Champions League victory in 2020, to take on Benfica in the previous match-day; they beat the Portuguese side, 0 — 4. The goals came really late in that match with the inspiration being Leroy Sané. Since then, a lot has unfolded; Bayern were taken apart by Borussia Mönchengladbach in the DFB Pokal. The defeat, a record defeat for the Bavarians, 5-0, revealed weaknesses in Julian Nagelsmann’s side, including the inability to play around an incessant press. While that game was a one-off, the back-line did not look too solid against Union Berlin either. Where Bayern goes from here remains to be seen, although goal scoring does not seem to be a problem. Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s exciting 5-2 victory over Union Berlin

Wow, that was enough action to last 3 games. Bayern Munich’s game against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga was nothing short of a spectacle. This is what football fans flock to stadiums for. This was certainly a treat for the football neutral and a big win for the Bundesliga. The Bavarians came out all guns blazing in what was a statement win after the shambolic loss against Mönchengladbach in midweek. This should be a huge morale boost for the team and should help in steadying Nagelsmann’s ship, which has faced some turbulent tides lately. There were a lot of points to talk about, considering the end-to-end, nail-biting nature of this game. Here are some of the major points covered in the pod: Union’s amazing gameplan and resilient, gritty style of play Robert Lewandowski the phenomenon Thomas Müller propaganda, and why he’s the best in his position Bayern’s issues in defense, specifically the right side. Julian Nagelsmann’s absence on the pitch and possible effects Bayern’s return to winning ways, and the significance of the victory Learn more about your ad choices. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich (Hinrunde)

Bayern Munich is going to have to try and shake off the wicked shellacking it received in the DFB-Pokal against Gladbach by traveling to Germany’s capital for a match-up with Union Berlin.  With heavy legs — and potentially some shaken confidence — Bayern Munich will have to try and ease the sting of the embarrassment it likely feels after being horse-kicked by Die Fohlen.  Here is what we have on tap for this episode:  A look at the form of both squads. A look at how Bayern Munich can get back on track. A guess at Bayern Munich’s potential lineup. A prediction on the match. As always, we love your feedback and appreciate all the support! Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Talking points from Bayern Munich’s embarrassing 5-0 loss to Gladbach in the DFB-Pokal

Bayern Munich came out flat and paid for it dearly as it has suffered yet another second round exit from the DFB-Pokal. Somehow, this is more painful than losing to Holstein Kiel on penalties.  It is...I swear.  A curious lineup and a lethargic mentality led to Bayern Munich being absolutely blitzed by Borussia Mönchengladbach in a 5-0 defeat. Bayern Munich never looked like it was fully invested in making it a game.  Here is what we have on tap (not taps...like the song):  Bayern Munich’s backline was absolutely dreadful in every respect. Bayern Munich’s offense looked confused and frustrated. How does a team so talented come out so flat? Everybody has a plan until you get punched in the face.  Moving on...but learning in the process.  Be sure to stay tuned to Bavarian Podcast Works for all of your up to date coverage on Bayern Munich and Germany. Bavarian Podcast Works: Preview Show — Gladbach vs Bayern Munich (DFB Pokal)

The DFB Pokal is back, and Bayern Munich have a nightmare opponent in store. For the third time this season, Julian Nagelsmann must face Adi Hutter’s Borussia Monchengladbach — a team which he has yet to beat in any meaningful way. Foals keeper Yann Sommer has been the bane of Bayern’s attackers for many years now, and he along with the rest of their team will be looking to knock the Bavarians out of the 2nd Round of the Pokal for the second year in a row. Here are our talking points ahead of the game: Our general thoughts on the matchup. A rundown of Gladbach’s form, including the tactical failings of coach Adi Hutter. Why Yann Sommer still scares us. The specific ways in which BMG can hurt Bayern Munich. Will Gladbach target Alphonso Davies again? Explaining why Gladbach vs Bayern is like a Togekiss vs a Garchomp (Nintendo please don’t sue us). What is going on with Florian Neuhaus? Which Gladbach player do we want to see at Bayern (not Neuhaus). A scoreline prediction for the game. Bavarian Podcast Works S4E12: Joshua Kimmich’s vaccine decision, Bundesliga marketing vs El Clasico hype, Lewy vs Haaland, and more!

Another week has gone by, and there’s even more Bayern Munich news to talk about. Of course the big one is how Joshua Kimmich was revealed to be unvaccinated, creating a massive rift in the Bayern fanbase. We can’t dedicate a whole podcast to that, but we did discuss it and a whole lot of other topics relevant to the club and German football at large. In this episode, Samrin and Ineednoname discuss: Why El Clasico has lost its luster, and you should watch the Bundesliga instead.  Why German fans don’t seem to hate each other like Real Madrid and Barcelona fans do.  How the Bundesliga is marketed in India now, with ACTUAL PUNDITRY! Room to improve the marketing, especially in comparison to the Premier League. Samrin bullies INNN into remembering the names of three Bielefeld/Mainz players. The Champions League disaster from Germany in Europe.  A Haaland vs Lewandowski debate! How Thomas Muller fits Bayern like a glove.  Joshua Kimmich’s vaccine decision (final third of the podcast).  As always, thanks for your support and let us know what you think! Bavarian Podcast Works Postgame Show: Bayern Munich beats Hoffenheim 4-0; remains top of the Bundesliga

Bayern Munich danced their way past Hoffenheim in a fantastic performance; the game was over by the end of the first half as Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski had scored by that time to give Bayern a 2-0 lead. Gnabry has been having a very productive season to date, scoring at a high rate. Lewandowski’s was a screamer which came courtesy of Thomas Müller outmuscling Christopher Richards off the ball and setting up the Polish striker. In the second half, goals from substitutes Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Kingsley Coman wrapped up the performance. Choupo-Moting is a deft finisher and tends to always scores these days when he comes on a sub. Coman’s goal was beautifully set up by Dayot Upamecano with a long range pass from the back.
